2007 Projects

The Foundation for Protection of Animals provides grants and in-kind services to nonprofit organizations committed to animal welfare.  Below are some of the projects with which we are involved: 

Annie's Orphans

Annie's Orphans

Annie's Orphans is Durango, Colorado's only limited-admission dog shelter.  Anna Anderson has given sanctuary to all breeds of abandoned or neglected dogs for over 30 years.  Currently Annie's has over 60 dogs awaiting forever homes.  The FPA has given Annie's a grant to build an animal care and volunteer  center.  Please click on the above link to view some of Annie's adoptable dogs.

Montrose Animal Protection Agency

Montrose Animal Protection Agency

Montrose Animal Protection Agency (MAPA) offers discounted spay/neuter surgeries to qualified households in  Montrose County, Colorado.  The FPA has awarded MAPA a grant to continue their great work.  

Dogster's Spay/Neuter Fund

Dogster's Spay/Neuter Fund

Dogster's Spay/Neuter Fund has been providing  discounted surgeries for dogs and cats in La Plata County Colorado since 1999.  The Foundation for Protection of Animals is proud to support this organization as they work to end the suffering of homeless pets.

Bear Smart Durango

Bear Smart Durango

Bear Smart Durango educates people in La Plata County about sharing their environment with their ursine neighbors.  The FPA has granted Bear Smart with funds for outreach and the purchase of a laptop computer.

Eagle Valley Humane Society

Eagle Valley Humane Society

The FPA is proud to support the Eagle Valley Humane Society in Eagle, Colorado, with a grant toward their Pen Pals program.  Inmates from the county jail are matched up with shelter dogs and put through a rigorous training program.  The dogs learn obedience and manners and the inmates learn compassion and new skills.  Adopters get a trained, well-behaved dog.  Everybody wins!  Please click the above link for information on EVHS' adoptable animals.

Emancipet

Emancipet

Emancipet, based in Austin, Texas, has been providing free, or low-cost  sterilization for dogs and cats since 1999.  The FPA has given Emancipet a grant for surgical supplies enabling them to continue preventing the potential births and unnecessary deaths of thousands of pets.

Green Chimneys

Green Chimneys

Green Chimneys in New York State uses their wildlife rehabilitation program to help at-risk kids.  The program teaches children to deal with emotional issues and learn skills and compassion through caring for injured wildlife. A grant to assist in this worthwhile endeavor has been awarded by the FPA.

For Pets' Sake Humane Society

For Pets' Sake Humane Society

For Pets' Sake Humane Society, serving Montezuma and Dolores Counties in Colorado, provides spay/neuter assistance for low-income families.  They also foster and adopt out homeless animals.  We have awarded FPS a grant to help fund these programs and we provide in-kind services for their spay/neuter clinics.  Click above to view their adoptable animals.

Spring Creek Horse Rescue

Spring Creek Horse Rescue

Spring Creek Horse Rescue provides care and respite for neglected and abused horses in the Four Corners region.  The FPA provides funds and in-kind assistance to help these deserving creatures find permanent homes.  Click here for a link to Spring Creek's Petfinder page.

Jefferson County Humane Society

Jefferson County Humane Society

FPA has awarded the Jefferson County Humane Society in Jefferson, Wisconsin a grant to help spay and neuter barn cats in its rural service area.  Click here for available animals on JCHS' Petfinder page.

k9 Connection

k9 Connection

K9 Connection, based in Santa Monica CA, mentors at-risk kids as they socialize and train shelter dogs deemed potentially unadoptable.  The FPA has given k9 Connection a grant to enable more kids and dogs to participate in this program.  Please go to their website to check out their adoptable graduates.
