On June 28 2008 the Foundation for Protection of Animals hosted an all-day meeting for local animal welfare organizations at the Durango Rec Center.  The meeting was sponsored by the FPA,  Summerlee Foundation, Colorado Pet Overpopulation Fund, and Animal Assistance Foundation.  The day was an opportunity for groups to introduce themselves, discuss goals and challenges, and listen to presentations about current Colorado animal welfare issues.  Representatives from over 15 organizations, 2 states, and 4 counties attended.  The outcome was new knowledge, new contacts, and the formation of a yahoo group.

Spay Colorado

Spay Colorado

SPAY COLORADO, 1-877-654-SPAY,  is a program whose goal is to end the euthanasia of healthy and treatable dogs and cats in Colorado.    The program provides a single center that accesses useful information regarding the various spay/neuter programs statewide.  This means that even people in the poorest most isolated parts of the state can, with a single free phone call, find out where their nearest affordable spay/neuter program is and how to get help.  We can also identify areas of insufficient service and help get programs started in these areas.    A toll free number, 1-877-654-SPAY, affords accessibility to everyone, even those without computers.  Call today for information on low-cost spay/neuter services near you.  For more information visit spaycolorado.org

New:  Take the survey!  If you are an animal welfare professional or a veterinarian in Colorado, please respond to our survey on barriers to subsidized spay/neuter delivery in under-served communities.
