On June 30, 2008 Wendy was deployed by HSUS to respond to Cedar Rapids Iowa to assist in the care of over 400 animals whose owners' homes had been destroyed in the flood that devastated the community on June 12 2008. Animals were housed at a state-of-the-art equine facility at Kirkwood Community College. Wendy spent a week caring for the more "challenging" breed dogs.
As of July 17, all the dogs and all but 50 cats at the shelter had been reunited with their families.
The Cedar Rapids municipal animal shelter was severely damaged in the flood. For more information or to donate to the rebuilding effort please click here.
