Over Valentine's Day weekend I travelled to Sparta, North Carolina to help care for almost 300 dogs seized in a puppy mill raid by the ASPCA and American Humane Association. I spent 12 hours on my birthday caring for the more challenging, less socialized of the dogs. Many of the dogs had spent their entire lives indoors, having never seen the sun or open sky. Many animals had mange and urine scalding. Most of the dogs were purebred-many chihuahuas, boston terriers, min pins, and dachshunds. By the end of my deployment all the dogs had gone to breed rescues and ASPCA shelters throughout the country-some of the dogs were featured on Good Morning America! Go to our Animal Rescue page for photos of some of the dogs we rescued. For more information on the raid, please go to American Humane Association's website.
